Product Management

Our client-centric approach to managing and developing products is a unique aspect of Macquarie Allegiance Capital and is the focus of our Product Management Committee. This Committee is chaired by the Head of Marketing and Client Services and consists of the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Investment Officer, Heads of Sales, Chief Compliance Officer/Head of Operations and senior members of the Marketing and Client Services Team. The Product Management Committee provides a forum to evaluate the existing product range and consider whether any product enhancements are required to meet the changing market conditions. The Committee also considers ideas for new products to address evolving client needs. Our willingness to work with our clients to develop new solutions sets us apart from our peers, and will help us to remain at the forefront of changes in the fixed income industry.

Investment Management

Macquarie Allegiance Capital believes in a ‘team of specialists’ approach to managing client portfolios. Our Investment Committee includes the Chief Investment Officer and Sector Managers, as well as several Portfolio Managers from Macquarie. The Committee starts with a top-down assessment of global and domestic economic and financial market conditions with input from Macquarie's Economics team. The decision-making process is formalized through the use of a scorecard approach which incorporates both quantitative and qualitative factors. In its weekly meetings, the Committee starts by discussing the markets and collectively assigns ‘scores’ to the three macro areas of the investment process: economics; yield curve; and duration. Each of the Sector Managers then presents their assessment of their particular sector and recommends a score for that sector. The scores across each macro decision and each sector help determine the sector allocations in client portfolios.

Sector Managers are then responsible for bottom-up security selection. Their objective is to provide a well-diversified range of securities that reflect the top-down macro views of the Investment Committee and adds value to the overall portfolio.

Risk Management

Risk management is an integral part of Macquarie Allegiance Capital's investment process and client servicing efforts. Macquarie Allegiance Capital uses both proprietary and third party systems to quantify exposure to the yield curve, individual sectors, duration and credit quality, providing a framework in which the Investment Committee develops, implements and reviews strategic and tactical decisions. On the client servicing side, close portfolio monitoring by both Portfolio Managers and the Independent Compliance Team provides the proper checks and balances to adhere to clients' guidelines and reduces dispersion among comparable accounts.

Client Communications

The Marketing and Client Servicing Team works closely with the Sales Team and the Portfolio Managers to ensure that clients are informed of all relevant market developments and the impact they will have on each of the portfolios. We believe it is important that clients are aware of the benefits and risks of the markets into which they are considering investing, before they commit to that investment. On an ongoing basis, monthly reports and newsletters are sent to clients to ensure they are kept up to date on the markets and their portfolio characteristics. We also produce research papers, which help inform clients of significant shifts in the market or new investment opportunities.
